(NewsNation) — When Queen Elizabeth died, she left her eight grandchildren a whopping $90 million, but it wasn’t split evenly. While $16 million was allocated for Harry and William, Harry is set to receive $8.5 million (slightly more than half) as he doesn’t directly benefit from the Duchy of Cornwall.

Prince William in charge of the duchy

Since King Charles ascended to the throne in 2022, Prince William is now in charge of the duchy, which spans 130,000 acres across 23 counties in England and Wales and includes land, farms, houses and other assets. The duchy is worth over $1 billion, according to the Times of London, and William started garnering a salary; last year, he made a whopping $30 million as the big man in charge of the estate.

Harry, who is a nonworking royal, earned nothing. (When Harry was part of the ‘working royals,’ he was also paid a substantial sum from the estate — a sum he gave up when he quit the job).

Prince Harry received funds from dad

However, Harry did receive some funds from his father when he and Meghan left the royal family. He was given a “substantial portion” of the $6 million Charles allocated for his sons that year to help start a new life.

Prince Harry: My family “cut me off”

Harry sees it differently and told Oprah in the 2020 bombshell interview: “My family literally cut me off financially, and I had to afford security for us. … I’ve got what my mum left me, and without that, we would not have been able to (move to America).”

Good thing Harry and Meghan still have their Netflix deal to help pay the bills. Let’s hope his show about the athleticism of polo and her show about cooking do well.
