Biden to address country from Oval Office Wednesday night

(NewsNation) — President Joe Biden announced he’ll speak to the country Wednesday for the first time since leaving the presidential race.

The address will begin at 8 p.m. ET.

“I will address the nation from the Oval Office on what lies ahead, and how I will finish the job for the American people,” Biden wrote on X.

It comes as the president has not been seen publicly since last week as he’s been recovering from COVID-19. Biden tested negative for the virus as of Tuesday, according to a letter from his physician.

“The president’s symptoms have resolved,” the letter stated. “Over the course of his infection, he never manifested a fever, and his vital signs remained normal…”

Biden is expected to return to the White House on Tuesday after isolating in Delaware.

He will left his home state Tuesday and will arrive at the White House about 2:30 p.m. ET, according to his public schedule.

While speaking to NCAA athletes Monday, Vice President Kamala Harris said Biden is “feeling much better and recovering fast.” It was her first public address since announcing her 2024 presidential campaign.
