CRIME SCENE: Two charged in unregulated drug seizure in Vaughan

A public warning has been issued after a quantity of unregulated drugs were seized in Vaughan and two people were charged with drug-related offences.

York Regional Police began an investigation into the trafficking of controlled substances in May and on July 11 a search warrant was executed at a residence in the area of Woodstream Blvd. and Hwy. 7.

Officers allegedly recovered an abundance of prescription drugs that have not been approved by regulatory authorities for safety, efficacy, quality, or for sale in Canada.

These include anabolic steroids, hormone receptors, testosterone replacements, synthetic steroids, erectile dysfunction medications and opiates.

Police also seized a quantity of pills believed to MDMA and two fraudulently registered motor vehicles.

Jamal Hassan, 29, of Vaughan, has been charged with two counts each of trafficking schedule III substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking schedule IV, possession of property obtained by crime, and eight counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking schedule III substance.

Ashley Cunningham, 34, of Vaughan, has been charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of trafficking schedule III substance.

OBJECTS THROWN FROM EAST YORK BALCONY

Toronto Police are warning about objects being thrown at vehicles in East York.

Cops say two motorists in the area of Pottery Rd. and Broadview Ave. reported damage to their vehicles in March from falling objects, which were later determined to be metal BBs and glass marbles.

There were no injuries and it’s unknown where these objects originated from or who is responsible.

Police say another motorist reported damage this month to their vehicle from falling objects in the same area.

Cops warn and unknown person or people continue to throw objects, including glass, ball bearings and marbles, from a balcony onto vehicles travelling along Pottery Rd.

Drivers, pedestrians and cyclists in the area are urged to use caution and are encouraged to report any incidents to police.
