Those five players all featured in the Boomers’ recent warm-up matches against China.
Thybulle, who plays for the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA, was part of the Australian team that won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

He is a versatile player and fans have failed to understand why he was snubbed.
Cooks is another interesting call.
He plays under Boomers coach Brian Goorjian in the NBL and just agreed to a whopping three-year contract (the biggest in NBL history).
He was also one of Boomers’ star performers at last year’s World Cup.
There has been a mixed response from fans, but were baffled.
“Just doesn’t make any sense (why Thybulle is not in) … great size that can defend most spots on the floor and lock up some of the worlds very best shooters. Not to mention his 3pt has only improved. Mind boggling,” one fan blasted on X (formerly Twitter).
“Geez … this is, um, interesting,” another said.
“One of the stranger decisions when it comes to a team selection of any sport. Thybulle should be in,” another said.
Named in the 12-man team are NBA stars Josh Giddey, Josh Green, Danté Exum, Jock Landale, Duop Reath, Dyson Daniels, Patty Mills, and Joe Ingles.
Tasmania JackJumpers Jack McVeigh and Will Magnay have also been included in the squad, and so have veterans Matthew Dellavedova and Nick Kay.
The team will exhibition games Abu Dhabi next week fand then head to Paris.
More to come ….
