Teen arrested with knife, ‘tactical’ gear, and neo-Nazi propaganda outside MP’s office

A 19-year-old man is in custody after he showed up at Newcastle Labor MP Tim Crakanthorp’s office carrying a knife, “tactical” gear and neo-Nazi propaganda.

The teenager was arrested about 12:30pm on Wednesday, after he allegedly distributed a disturbing manifesto.

Crakanthorp released a statement about the incident.

“I understand that there was an incident in Newcastle today,” he told the Sydney Morning Herald.

“I have spoken with police, and they are managing the situation and have assured me that nobody was harmed.

“I have been advised that the individual briefly walked in and out of my office, he left before making any contact with my staff.”

NSW Police also released a statement.

“Following further inquiries, officers became aware of the existence of a document that had been circulated to a number of public figures and media outlets,” a police statement said.

“The public is reminded under Section 93Z Crimes Act 1900 (NSW) it is an offence to distribute or disseminate material threatening or inciting violence on grounds of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or intersex or HIV/AIDS status.“
