(WGHP) — A singer and rapper known for an early 2000s radio hit has died, Variety and TMZ report.
Seth Binzer, known professionally as “Shifty Shellshock,” died at age 49 on Monday. He passed away in his home, according to reports.
Shellshock was part of the nu-metal/rap group Crazy Town, who had a hit with the song “Butterfly” off their 1999 album “The Gift of Game.”
The band toured with the Red Hot Chili Peppers in support of their first album. (Crazy Town’s “Butterfly” utilized a sample from the Red Hot Chili Peppers song “Pretty Little Ditty.”) Crazy Town changed lineups and went on hiatus at various points throughout the 2000s and had been touring as recently as 2023, when a brawl outside of a Myrtle Beach venue sparked controversy.
Shellshock spent much of his life battling addiction issues, revealing his struggles on the reality shows “Sober House” and “Celebrity Rehab.”
No cause of death was immediately released.
