England v Denmark LIVE: Latest Euro 2024 score and updates as Hjulmand rocket cancels out Kane strike

Jamie Carragher and Daniel Sturridge have questioned England’s tactics in that first half after they decided to sit back and defend a one goal lead.

They started well when in control of the ball but a great strike from Morten Hjulmand drew Denmark level.

The pitch was clearly cuttting up as England searched for a breakthrough goal, with right-back Kyle Walker escaping an injury after slipping and almost rolling over his left ankle.

The Manchester City full-back even changed his boots only minutes into the Group C fixture, but was then involved in the opening goal as he set up captain Harry Kane to fire England into the lead.

45+1 mins: Phil Foden has a shy from the edge of the box and laces his effort over the top. The whistle goes to end an entertaining and mistake filled first half.

Everything is to play when the teams come back out. This one is delicately poised.

45 mins: Hojbjerg has a pop from 25-yards trying to emulate Hjulmand’s goal. This effort is simple for Pickford to keep out. England are panicking though, they’re making plenty of mistakes and can’t handle the press from Denmark.

One minute to play until half-time.

A rather disjointed game. England took a lead with a goal that was scrappy, even if Kyle Walker did well to fashion an opening and Harry Kane to finish it. Morten Hjulmand’s equaliser was the game’s moment of real quality so far but also showed that there are times when Denmark are finding space in midfield.

42 mins: Phil Foden comes inside and gets the ball. He dribbles past a couple of players in the middle and takes a shot. It’s not his best effort and gives Kasper Schmeichel an easy save.

Foden has dropped in alongside Jude Bellingham and wants to dictate England’s attacking play.

40 mins: Christian Eriksen sends a corner over to the far post where Andreas Christiansen is free. He leaps above Declan Rice, making a last-ditch attempt to distract him, and powers a headed effort over the crossbar!

37 mins: Maybe that equaliser will teach England that they can’t sit back and invite pressure. They got away with it against Serbia but Denmark have the quality to hurt them.

It’s the Danes who have the momentum and energy now, England need to find another level here.

Denmark have been growing into the game and now they’ve get their reward. A misplaced pass from Harry Kane gives the ball away and Morten Hjulmand receives a pass 25-yards out from goal.

England fail to close him down so he goes for goal. The shot is powerful, flat and low. Jordan Pickford sees it late and leaps to the right but the placement is perfect.

The ball hits the inside of the left-hand post and finishes in the back of the net. Denmark are level!

33 mins: A miscued clearance from England sends the ball into the penalty area where Jonas Wind gets to it first. He shoots but Marc Guehi’s lunging tackle deflects the effort onto the top of the net.

Denmark’s resultant corner comes into the middle, delivered by Christian Eriksen. Jannik Vestergaard wins the header and nods it over the crossbar but the whistle has already gone for an England free kick.
