Mosley was on the Greek island of Symi with his wife when he went missing after hiking in searing heat on Wednesday afternoon.

His body was found on Sunday, not far from a beach marina and within walking distance of help — but a search had failed to find him until it was too late.
Bailey confirmed her husband’s body had been found in a heartbreaking statement.
Before the devastating series of events, Mosley’s final tweet to his 125,600 followers was posted on May 25, in which he engaged with a fan about the parody of him on award-winning BBC Radio 4 satire show Dead Ringers.
“Heard the Dead Ringers parody? I’d see it as an honour!” the fan asked him on X.
The same day, Mosley responded: “I have … I’m not convinced I really sound like that but my wife Clare says it is spot on.”
He and his wife, a fellow doctor, have four children — three sons named Dan, Alex and Jack, and a daughter named Kate.
After Mosley’s body was found on Symi on Sunday, Bailey released a heartbreaking statement paying tribute to her husband.
“It’s devastating to have lost Michael, my wonderful, funny, kind and brilliant husband. We had an incredibly lucky life together. We loved each other very much and were so happy together,” she said.
“We’re taking comfort in the fact that he so very nearly made it.
“Michael was an adventurous man, it’s part of what made him so special.”
Dr Bailey said the family had been “hugely comforted by the outpouring of love”, adding: “It’s clear that Michael meant a huge amount to so many of you”.
“We are so grateful to the extraordinary people on Symi who have worked tirelessly to help find him. Some of these people on the island, who hadn’t even heard of Michael, worked from dawn till dusk unasked,” she said.
“I feel so lucky to have our children and my amazing friends. Most of all, I feel so lucky to have had this life with Michael.”
His four children had arrived in Symi, which is about 16km long and has 2500 residents, following his disappearance.
Mosley’s body was transferred to the neighbouring island of Rhodes for more tests after a police official said a coroner at the scene excluded any criminal act but could not determine the exact cause of death.
Symi mayor Lefteris Papakalodoukas said the discovery was made after he and others, including journalists, filmed the area above the Agia Marina beach from a private boat.
“We analysed the recorded evidence and it was obvious that it was, unfortunately, Mosley,” Papakalodoukas said.
“He was found 10m away from the sea, 10-15m from his destination, the beach of Agia Marina, between a fence and a path.”
Tributes have been pouring in for Mosley, who has been credited with helping to extend and even save lives with the health advice he dispensed.
BBC chief content officer Charlotte Moore said staff at the broadcaster were “deeply saddened” by the news and sent their support to his family and friends.
“He was a brilliant science broadcaster and program maker, able to make the most complex subjects simple, but he was also passionate about engaging and entertaining audiences, inspiring us all to live a healthier, fuller life,” she said.
