Mamie Laverock, 19, had been in intensive care in hospital for two weeks before the May 26 fall, according to a GoFundMe page set up by her parents Rob and Nicole Compton.
“We are deeply saddened to report that on May 26th, Mamie, who has been in intensive treatment for the past two weeks, was escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony walkway from which she fell five stories. She sustained life threatening injuries, has undergone multiple extensive surgeries, and is currently on life support,” the page reads.
“We are all devastated, in shock, at this intensely difficult time.”
Laverock previously had a “medical emergency” in Winnipeg on May 11 and had “since been transferred to hospital here in Vancouver.”

In an email Wednesday, Providence Health Care confirmed the fall happened at St. Paul’s Hospital but gave few other details, citing privacy.
“An incident happened on one of Providence Health Care’s sites but Providence cannot comment on the particulars due to patient privacy,” the statement said. “Our hearts go out to the patient, family, and all affected by this event, and we offer our best wishes for a full recovery.”
Providence said in all cases related to patient safety, an internal critical incident review is conducted to determine exactly what happened and to make recommendations for improved patient safety.
Laverock appeared in the Hallmark series ‘When Calls the Heart’ from 2014-2023, while her other credits include This Means War, A Series of Unfortunate Events and The Hollow Child.
