Australian radio legend Bob Rogers, whose career on the airwaves spanned 78 years, has died aged 97.
Friend Derryn Hinch paid tribute to the country’s longest-serving radio presenter following Rogers’ passing at his Sydney home, surrounded by family.
“The words legend and icon are thrown around too easily these days but Bob Rogers was both,” Hinch said.

“As a kid, I used to listen to him on my crystal set from across the ditch in New Zealand.
“I shall be honoured to deliver his eulogy in Sydney next week. Vale, my brother.”
The veteran broadcaster worked for several stations after getting his start as a panel operator for Melbourne-based 3XY in 1942, aged 14.
Rogers was awarded an OAM in 2010 for his contribution to media as a radio broadcaster.
