Concerns for mother and child after evidence of birth discovered on Cooks River banks in Earlwood

NSW Police are appealing for information after “evidence” of the birth was located on the banks of the Cooks River near Wardell Road, Earlwood about 4.30pm on Monday.

Attending officers say the evidence indicated a “child had been born near the water”.

“Police hold serious concerns for the welfare of the child and its mother,” a police spokesperson said, adding that the mother is encouraged to attend her nearest hospital for urgent care for herself and her child.
