Bruins’ Brad Marchand takes morning skate ahead of Game 5

Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand was on the ice for his team’s morning skate on Tuesday, giving hope he might play in Game 5 on Tuesday.

Marchand, 36, left Game 3 in the first period and missed Game 4 after taking a hit from Panthers forward Sam Bennett.

While initial views of the interaction made it look just like that — a hit — another angle that has subsequently emerged shows what appears to be Bennett punching Marchand in the head upon contact.

No penalty was called on the play and no supplemental discipline was handed out, either.

The Bruins are down 3-1 in the series and will be eliminated if they do not win on Tuesday night. That game can be seen at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
