Oshawa man, 30, charged after allegedly exposing himself to youths

A 30-year-old Oshawa man has been charged after someone allegedly performed a sex act in front of two female youths in Whitby.

Durham Regional Police said officers responded on April 5 to a sexual offence call in the Evergreen-Canadian Oaks Drs. area of Whitby after a man allegedly exposed himself and began performing a sex act in a public area in front of the youths.

The man fled before police arrived, but one of the girls provided a description of the suspect and his vehicle. Police said the victims were not physically harmed.

Samad Abdul Ghaffar was arrested on April 19 and charged with performing an indecent act. He was released on an undertaking.

MAN SOUGHT IN SUSPECTED ‘HATE-MOTIVATED’ HARASSMENT PROBE

Police asked for the public’s help in identifying a man wanted in connection with a suspected “hate-motivated” criminal harassment investigation in the Bay-Cloverhill area.

Toronto Police said on Sunday that a person followed the victim on March 14 in the Bay-St. Joseph Sts. area and allegedly made anti-2SLGBTQI+ comments while “continually harassing the victim.” 

The suspect, a male, was last seen in the Bloor St. W.-Avenue Rd. area and is possibly in their 50s and between 5-foot-4 and 5-foot-6 with a stocky build.

4 CHARGED AFTER DRUGS SEIZED IN CLARINGTON

Two men and two women were charged after a drug bust last week in Clarington.

Durham Regional Police said “several” people were taken into custody and drugs were allegedly seized after the execution of a search warrant on Thursday in the Simpson Ave.-Jane St. area.

Billy Glover, 40, Michelle Woolner, 46, Rebecca Bowden, 39, and Peter Johnston, 36 — all of Clarington — were each charged with two counts of possession of a schedule 1 substance (cocaine and opioids) for the purpose of trafficking.

Glover was also charged with failing to comply with a recognizance and was being held for a bail hearing.

SENIOR DEAD AFTER CRASH IN WHITBY

Police said officers believe a “medical episode” was to blame for a fatal crash in Whitby.

Durham Regional Police said officers responded Friday at about 12:40 p.m. to a three-vehicle collision in the Rossland Rd.-Garden St. area of Whitby. A 79-year-old male required emergency medical treatment at the scene before being transported to a hospital, where he died.

Police said investigators believe the man, who was driving one of the vehicles, “may have suffered a medical episode that led to the collision.”
