Motorcycle rider killed during police pursuit in Strathfield, Sydney

A motorcycle rider aged in his 20s has been killed during a police pursuit in Sydney’s inner west.

A highway patrol officer initiated the pursuit after the motorcycle rider failed to stop as directed on Arthur St in Strathfield about 2.30pm on Monday.

The rider lost control and hit a power pole while attempting to overtake a Toyota Corolla, police said.

The man, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene of the crash.

NSW police said the Critical Incident Team will investigate the incident, and it will be the subject of an independent review.

Motorist are being advised to avoid the area as Arthur St is closed between Henley St and Hornsey Rd.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact police.
