‘Suspicious’ deaths in St. Catharines being investigated, police say

Homicide detectives are investigating the “suspicious” deaths of two people in St. Catharines, Niagara Regional Police said.

Officers from 1 District, which covers St. Catharines and Thorold, responded to an “assist ambulance” call shortly after noon on Monday at a residence on Elma St., near Scott and Dorothy Sts., police said in a news release.

“When officers arrived on scene, two persons were found deceased inside the house,” police said. “The investigation is still in its initial stages. Further information regarding the identity of the deceased persons is not being released at this time.”

Homicide unit detectives are being assisted by other officers, the forensic service unit and the officer of the coroner, Niagara police said.
