Fiery truck crash on M1 Pacific Mwy causes traffic chaos at Maclean

A B-double truck has burst into flames after crashing on the Pacific Mwy at Maclean just after 6am on Friday.

Traffic diversions are in place as the M1 remains closed in both directions near Farlows Ln.

Anyone driving in the area is warned to expect delays.

“There is no forecast for when the motorway will open again,” NSW Live Traffic said at 8am.

The driver, a man in his mid-20s, was taken to Lismore Base Hospital with a back injury, NSW Ambulance said.

The NSW State Emergency Service had to pull the man from his truck, NSW Rural Fire Service said.

When Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) teams arrived, they said they found the truck fully alight.

FRNSW told 7NEWS.com.au the vehicle had gone over the southbound embankment.

The fire is now contained, and firefighters are working to extinguish the blaze completely.

The cause of the crash in still unclear and remains under investigation, NSW Police said.

Light vehicles are being diverted via Cameron St, River St and Yamba Rd through Maclean, according to NSW Live Traffic.

Heavy vehicles were initially parked following the incident but are now being diverted via Big River Way, Summerland Way and the Bruxner Hwy via Grafton and Casino.
