A teenager has admitted to murdering a Queensland woman and assaulting her husband during a Boxing Day home invasion.
The teenager, who is now 18, and another teen were charged after Emma Lovell was stabbed in her home in North Lakes, north of Brisbane, in 2022.
Police alleged the pair, who were 17-year-old boys at the time, broke into the home and attacked Lovell and her husband when they were confronted at about 11.30pm.
Lovell died after suffering stab wounds to the chest while her husband, Lee, was treated in hospital for a knife wound.
Her death prompted widespread community outrage and was one of several high-profile crimes that led to the state passing controversial youth justice laws.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty in the supreme court in Brisbane on Monday to one count each of murder, burglary, malicious act with intent and assault occasioning bodily harm.
