A 30-year-old man is accused of nearly killing another man during a robbery in Brampton last month.

The assailant, who was a “stranger” to the victim, approached from behind with “an edged weapon” and attacked the man, police said in a statement released Saturday, explaining the attacker then took off with property belonging to the victim.
“The victim was transported to a trauma center with life-threatening severe injuries, including slash and stab wounds,” police said. “Fortunately, he survived the attack and is recovering.”

Cops investigate early morning shootings at Mississauga business
Investigators subsequently identified a suspect an executed two search warrants on Thursday – one at a Brampton residence, the other at a Toronto residence.
As a result, the suspect was arrested.

Stephen McCallum, of Brampton, is charged with attempted murder and robbery.
