Princess Kate’s uncle reveals what he really thinks about her hours after she’s seen in public for first time following surgery

Catherine, Princess of Wales’ uncle Gary Goldsmith has shared an update on his niece as she recovers from abdominal surgery, calling her “simply perfect”.

Goldsmith, who is the younger brother of Kate’s mother Carole Middleton, has entered the UK Celebrity Big Brother house, sharing insights about his family and his encounters with the royals.

Upon arrival, he was asked by the show’s host AJ Odudu if he thought Princess Kate would be watching his efforts in the house, the UK Independent reported.

“If she is, it’ll be from behind a sofa,” he joked.

Calling Kate “simply perfect,” he also recalled the first time he met her husband and heir to the throne, Prince William.

Goldsmith recalled Kate cooking and William asked him: “Hi, can I offer you a cup of tea.”

“Very normal,” he said of the royal couple.

It is believed that Kate’s parents Carole and Michael Middleton were furious over Goldsmith’s decision to go on the reality show and fear what he could reveal to a national audience.

“Gary said he’s been read the riot act by Kate’s mum Carole and her dad Michael,” a source told The Sun.

“They aren’t happy he’s going into Celebrity Big Brother.

“It is infuriating for them. Kate doesn’t need this stress.”

“Carole is his sister, so there will always be love, but they no longer see eye-to-eye on lots of things.

“He has said he doesn’t have their blessing to go into the house but is going full steam ahead anyway.

“In the eyes of the public, Gary’s become the black sheep of the Middleton family.”

Goldsmith reportedly adores his niece and “wants to defend” his family.

“With Kate being out of the public eye at the moment and William shouldering a lot, the last thing they want is for Uncle Gary to be causing any embarrassment on television,” the source added.

Goldsmith has previously been outspoken about his dislike for Kate’s brother-in-law Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.

“I’m particularly appalled by his vile confection of half-truths and complete fabrications because Kate is my adored niece,” he told The Sun in October 2023.

“Kate is self-sufficient, resourceful and extremely capable — she is not a drama queen.”

The timing of Goldsmith’s arrival in the Celebrity Big Brother house comes as his sister Carole Middleton and Kate were spotted in a car near Windsor Castle, marking the first time the princess has been seen in public since Christmas Day.

Kate was spotted in the passenger seat of the car driven by Carole.

The princess covered her eyes with sunglasses and appeared to be smiling.

The surprise appearance comes as concern soared in the past week for her health when her husband Prince William abruptly pulled out of his late godfather’s memorial due to a “personal matter”.

A palace spokesperson then made a rare statement, reiterating the palace had made it clear in January the princess was not expected to be seen again in public until after Easter.

“Kensington Palace made it clear in January the timelines of the princess’ recovery and we’d only be providing significant updates. That guidance stands,” the spokesperson told Daily Mail.

The palace confirmed on January 17 that Kate, 42, had undergone a successful “planned” abdominal surgery, and would be stepping back from royal duties until about Easter.

No details of the surgery were given, but a palace spokesman said the condition was “non-cancerous”.

“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate,” a statement said in January.

“She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.”

The last time Kate was seen before the picture of her in the car near Windsor Castle emerged was 71 days ago on Christmas Day, when she attended a church service with William and their children, George, Charlotte and Louis.
