Teenager, 17, seriously injured in two-vehicle collision on Great Western Highway, Kirkconnell, NSW

A teenager has been seriously injured in a collision between two cars on a highway 25km east of Bathurst, NSW.

Police and paramedics were called the Great Western Highway, Kirkconnell, about 5pm on Friday to find a crash between hatchback and an SUV.

The driver of the hatchback, a 17-year-old, was trapped in the vehicle for more than an hour before they were rescued.

They were airlifted to hospital in a serious condition with multiple injuries.

The passenger inside the hatchback, a 17-year-old girl, and the driver of the SUV, a 29-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.

They were taken to Bathurst Hospital.

Traffic on the Great Western Hwy was impacted for several hours while the scene was cleared.

Police are investigating the crash.
