Canucks’ Podkolzin to make season debut vs. Ducks

Vancouver Canucks forward Vasily Podkolzin will make his NHL season debut on Sunday when the team faces the Anaheim Ducks on the road.

The 22-year-old has not played in an NHL game since March 25, 2023. He has spent the entirety of the 2023-24 season with the AHL’s Abbotsford Canucks, recording 28 points (15 goals and 13 assists) over 44 games.

Over 118 career NHL games, the Russian winger has 33 points (18 goals and 15 assists).

He was drafted by Vancouver in 2019 as the 10th-overall pick.

According to Sportsnet’s Dan Murphy, Podkolzin will play on a line with Elias Lindholm and Conor Garland against the Ducks. Meanwhile, backup goaltender Casey DeSmith is set to start in net.
