The second part of the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo is about to be released by Square Enix. The update to the FF7 Rebirth demo has a February 21 release date and a 12pm GMT release time for fans living in the UK. Not only does the update add a brand new area for players to explore, but it also makes a number of gameplay improvements and visual tweaks, which should make it into the final game. Indeed, according to a post on X (formerly Twitter), the performance mode will benefit from a big visual boost.
“The update to the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo scheduled for February 21st will apply improvements to the visual quality when selecting “Performance Mode” from the graphics options,” Square Enix explains.
In a follow-up tweet, Square Enix writes: “The Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo update launches tomorrow at 4am PST / 1pm CET.
“This unlocks “Dawn of a New Era” where you’ll be able to experience an open area near Junon and includes content unique to the demo. The update improves visual fidelity in Performance Mode.”
While the demo itself is free to download and play, you’ll need to finish the original Nibelheim episode in order to access the new area.
Players will be able to explore the open-world area surrounding Junon, ride Chocobos, battle monsters and complete various objectives.
Additional Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth story content is available upon entering Junon.
According to Square Enix, the area in the demo is smaller and more compact than the location in the full game.
“It’s a great way to get a taste of the freedom and variety that’s available in the world of FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH, and a tantalising tease of what’s in store in the full experience,” Square Enix explains.
“Please note that the area in the demo has been significantly altered to make the content more compact.
“You can expect much more in the full game – a much larger space to explore, more side content to find and undertake, more monsters to battle, more secrets to find… the list goes on.”
