Unsinkable Judie Tzuke bounces back for songs of survival | Music | Entertainment

The Stay With Me Till Dawn singer, 67, says that her 18th album, Jude The Unsinkable, reflects on her surviving cancer, losing her family home and nearly dying of Covid.

But the star said: “I don’t want people to feel sorry for me with what I’ve gone through, because I don’t feel sorry for myself.

“I’ve always written about what I’m experiencing but I think more so than ever with this album.”

While she was fighting cancer, Judie’s bank suspended her mortgage payments but then demanded she pay them off in four months, giving her no option but to leave the family home of 30 years.

And while she was in hospital battling Covid, a doctor told her at 4am that if she could get through to the next day, she had a chance to survive. She said: “The sun came out and I realised I was still here, and I still wanted to write.”

Judie is returning to the road with a handful of gigs in the coming weeks, before embarking on a full UK tour in October and November.
