Police operation underway at North Sydney station after men in balaclavas board train

A police operation is underway in Sydney’s north after a group of men dressed in balaclavas and holding Australian flags boarded a train.

The train was terminated at North Sydney station on Friday afternoon because of the operation.

“A police operation is underway at (the) railway station in North Sydney,” NSW Police said.

“The situation is contained and there is no threat to public safety.”

Photos posted to social media show the group, all dressed in black, and police on board the train.

“Looks like something big at North Sydney station,” a passenger said on X (formerly Twitter).

“Train held on platform 2. Police down one end with pax held on train.”

Buses are being diverted away from the station and traffic is being diverted.
