Nicole Kidman, 56, stuns on red carpet for New York premier of Amazon Prime’s Expats in super-revealing dress

It was a chilly day in New York on Sunday, but that didn’t deter Aussie star Nicole Kidman from wearing an incredibly revealing dress at the premiere of her new series Expats.

The 56-year-old wore a backless black gown for the Amazon Prime show’s premiere, that showed off her impressively toned figure.

The jaw-dropping dress featured a thigh-high split and side cutouts that showed off her lithe physique.

Kidman accessorised the slinky gown with elegant diamond drop earrings, bracelets and pointy black stilettos.

She kept her strawberry tresses down, with a centre parting and soft waves.

At the event, the statuesque beauty posed alongside Jennifer Salke (the head of Amazon Studios), Expats creator Lulu Wang and co-star Sarayu Blue.

Expats is based on the book The Expatriates by Janice Y. K. Lee.

“Set against the complex tapestry of Hong Kong residents, Expats depicts a multifaceted group of women after a single encounter sets off a chain of life-altering events that leaves everyone navigating the intricate balance between blame and accountability,” the show’s synopsis reads.

Kidman’s latest stunning red carpet appearance comes after she gave a revealing interview about what it’s like to be a woman in her 50s in Hollywood.

The Oscar winner addressed the subject late last year on a Something To Talk About podcast, saying she didn’t care what other people thought of her — or the clothes she wore.

“I make the most random, crazy choices,” she admitted.

“I call it teenage choices because I don’t ever think of the consequences.

“I have to be made to think of consequences half the time.

“Part of my brain just doesn’t think like that.”

Kidman has long been one of fashion’s risk-takers.

In 1997, she wore a chartreuse Dior dress made from embroidered silk to the Oscars.

Designed by John Galliano, the look caused such a stir it now has its own dedicated Wikipedia page.

At the time the gown’s colour was heavily criticised, with some fashion observers later suggesting that it helped create a culture of cautious red carpet dressing that endures today.

“John (Galliano) made it for me, and I love it,” Kidman told Women’s Wear Daily at the event.

“I don’t know if people will get it.

“But if they don’t, well, maybe they should.”

Fashion is often considered a young person’s game — with the expectations on what to wear growing evermore restrictive as you age.

But Kidman said for her, fun takes priority over fitting in.

“As I always say, ‘I’m gonna do what I want to do,’” she told Perfect, as per CNN.

“That’s probably why I click with photographers, as I’m not here to stamp myself on you, but rather you stamp yourself on me and for us to grow together.

“Let’s play!”
