Dupes in the beauty industry are now part and parcel of what we’ve come to expect.
But while there are plenty of dodgy ones around, occasionally here at Best Picks we stumble across a hidden gem.
Step forward Aerre Fragrances, whose $55 dupe of the high-end luxury Baccarat Rouge 540 perfume by Maison Francis Kurkdijian we have already highlighted.

Now, we’ve located another dupe by Aerre.
The $45 After Hours Scent by the Aussie brand smells exactly like YSL’s famous Black Opium scent, which retails for $192 at stores like Mecca and David Jones.
Like Black Opium, After Hours has a playful mix of pear and liquorice, followed by a captivating heart of orange blossom and jasmine, all warmed up by rich vanilla and bold black coffee.
“Inspired by Black Opium, After Hours is a statement maker for daring women everywhere,” product information on the Aerre Fragrances website attests.
I have personally trialled this perfume and love it for a warm and heady evening scent.
It’s unforgettable and intoxicating, and the scent lasts an entire night.
The many glowing reviews agree with me.
“It smells identical,” writes one recent shopper.
“Love love love it. Compliments for days with this one.”
Another added: “As someone who has spent hundreds if not thousands over time on ‘designer’ scents, I’m saddened that I haven’t purchased this sooner!!
“This smells exactly like the brand it is inspired by and the smell lasts for ages. So so happy.”
While a third added: “‘It’s spot on with a little twist of its own”.
Aerre Fragrances was launched by Stefan and Alec, with the aim of bringing luxury French fragrances to shoppers at a more affordable price point.
All of Aerre’s perfumes are produced in Provence, France, where many of the world’s leading perfumiers make their products.
But prices are much lower than other top-end fragrances, starting from just $29.
Aerre have a number of other scents apart from After Hours, including Joshua Tree, Amber Haze, Forest Haze and the best-selling Bliss Release — modelled on Baccarat Rouge 540 perfume by Maison Francis Kurkdijian.
