Two men killed, one wounded in two separate shootings in the city

Christmas weekend began with a bang as gunshots rang out leaving two men dead and another injured in two separate shootings in the city.

Toronto Police say gunfire first erupted in the area of Danforth Ave. and Woodbine Ave. around 11:40 p.m. on Friday.

One man was found suffering from a gunshot wound near Steeles Ave. and Weston Rd.

Police said he was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

He was later identified as Kevon Wilson, 26, of Toronto.

A second victim of the North York shooting, a 21-year-old man, was located at a hospital suffering from a serious injury but he is expected to survive.

There was no suspect description immediately available in the double shooting.

The two man killed in separate shootings become the city’s 70th and 71st murder victims of the year.

Officers also responded to a stabbing near Danforth and Greenwood Aves. just after 12 a.m. on Saturday.

A man in his 20s was inside a gas station store and was assaulted by a woman not known to him, police said.

The victim fled the area and called police.

“He was taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, believed to be caused by a sharp object,” police in a message posted on X.

The woman police are looking for is described as approximately 30 years old, 5-foot-9, 165 pounds, with short black hair, and she was wearing a dark hoodie with a white Reebok logo, blue jeans, and brown boots at the time.

Police have released images of a suspect hoping the public can help identify her.

All three investigations are ongoing.
