Teoscar Hernández became the first player from the Los Angeles Dodgers to win the Home Run Derby. After hitting 14 home runs in the final round during the July 2024 event at Globe Life Field in Texas, the athlete celebrated becoming the champ during an interview.

“This is amazing, man, everything that I’m feeling right now,” he said, per ESPN. “There’s no word I can describe what I’m feeling, in front of family, in front of everybody that is here.”

Teoscar Has Been Playing Baseball Since 2011

Teoscar made his professional baseball debut in 2011 after signing with the Houston Astros as a free agent. After playing in the minor leagues for several years, the Astros promoted him to the MLB in 2016. The following year, he was traded by the Astros to the Toronto Blue Jays.

In 2022, Teoscar was traded to the Seattle Mariners before signing a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers in early 2024.

He Is From the Dominican Republic

The outfielder is originally from Cotuí, Sánchez Ramírez, Dominican Republic.

Teoscar Won the 2024 Home Run Derby

In July 2024, Teoscar took home the trophy for winning the Home Run Derby, becoming the first player from the Dodgers to win the event.

According to ESPN, Teoscar had the sixth longest odds out of the eight-man field in the Home Run Derby.

“It doesn’t matter who I’m going against. I’m going to bet on myself,” he said, per the outlet. “People maybe underestimate me. You can see it at the end when Witt was hitting all those homers. Everybody was shooting for him. But I’m [as] talented as all those guys over there. They might be younger, but same talent.”

He Is a Dad

Although baseball is his passion, Teoscar prioritizes his family. The athlete, however, keeps most of his private life away from the public eye. Teoscar is married and has three children.

Teoscar Was Selected as an All-Star Twice

In 2021 and 2024, Teoscar was selected as an All-Star.
