4 youths charged in carjacking after arrests in Toronto shooting

Toronto Police say four youths previously arrested in a shooting investigation have been re-arrested and charged in a carjacking investigation.

On Jan. 25, police alleged that a man was driving his car in Windsor with four youths when one of them pointed a firearm at him and demanded the man’s cellphone, car keys, and wallet before striking him in the face with the weapon and then all four fled with the man’s car and belongings

The stolen car was found in Toronto on Feb. 15 and was sent for forensic examination.

On March 4, multiple search warrants were executed across the city and firearms and ammunition were seized.

As a result, the four youths were identified as being the same four youths arrested on Feb. 1, 2024 a shooting investigation.

A 16-year-old youth has been additionally charged with 27 mostly firearms-related offences including robbery with a firearm, assault with a weapon and fail to comply with a release order.

The other three 17-years-old youths have been additionally charged with robbery with a firearm and possess property or thing obtained by crime exceeding $5000.

The previous shooting happened on Feb. 1 at 11:41 p.m. when police were in the Jane St.-Grandravine Dr. area conducting a community safety general patrol.

It’s alleged that while the officers were there, they noticed four unfamiliar youths with their faces covered and hoods up and then when they approached, the youths ran and one of them fired a gun towards officers.

The cops caught up with the four youths on foot and they were arrested. Officers located two loaded firearms and a quantity of illegal drugs.

All four faced collectively dozens of mostly firearms and drug related charges from that incident, although some were related to fail to comply with probation.
