Toronto Police said they were in the Nugget Ave.-McCowan Rd. area on Sunday as a demonstration was being held in the same area where the Friends of Jesus Christ Church was hosting its annual Israel Rejoicing Celebration.
Police said officers recognized a woman at the demonstration who was wanted in connection with a failure-to-comply-with-conditions investigation and attempted to arrest her.
A man allegedly intervened to prevent officers from making the arrest, police said, and assaulted one of the officers before the wanted woman was arrested anyway.
