This Week, the Best Dressed Stars Created Moments of Magic

Some weeks, it feels like everyone is on the same page—and that certainly seemed the case over the past seven days, as celebrities across the globe embraced an aesthetic focused on embellishment and ethereal glamour. As they debuted the season’s biggest movies and sat front row at fashion shows, stars chose looks with visual impact. Whether it was Claudia Schiffer in the pearl beading of bespoke Balmain at the premiere of The Kingsman, Billie Eilish in festive Simone Rocha on Saturday Night Live, or Sarah Jessica Parker providing a twist on Carrie Bradshaw’s iconic tutu at the And Just Like That… screening, the best styles were heavy on the detail.

When Zendaya arrived at Spiderman: No Way Home’s London photocall, she did so in a sparkling look that alluded to the Marvel superhero himself. Dressed in an Alexander McQueen double-breasted wool blazer with crystal embroidery and thigh-high boots—as well as chandelier gems that swung playfully as she moved—Zendaya was at her outré best. If the arachnid theme wasn’t evident from her outfit, she hammered the concept home with the addition of the brand’s spiderweb earrings.

Nicole Kidman disappears into the role of comedy icon Lucille Ball in Being the Ricardos. A longtime fan of couture, Kidman consistently brings refined pieces to the red carpet, and her exquisite Armani Privé at the film’s premiere more than fit the bill. Featuring grey plissé tulle with decorative crystals, the look offered a different kind of transformation and was an elegant addition to Kidman’s fashion repertoire.

Jennifer Lawrence, meanwhile, opted for a gilded Dior look from Maria Grazia Chiuri’s spring 2021 collection to introduce climate change satire Don’t Look Up. Stately with floor-grazing pleated sleeves and a wealth of metallic embroidery, the richly detailed gown highlighted expectant mom Lawrence’s glow as she provided a new glimpse of her maternity style.
