Pete Davidson Jokingly Shades Chrissy Teigen During ‘SNL’ Segment

Every once in a while, a celeb gets dissed on Saturday Night Live. Pete Davidson took aim at Chrissy Teigen during his Weekend Update segment with Colin Jost or as I like to call him, Mr. Scarlett Johanson. Pete began talking about how May is Mental Health Awareness Month, but then his jokes suddenly took a turn.

“It’s Mental Health Awareness Month and my therapist said it’s important to practice self-care—which is why she stopped taking my calls,” he joked. Kinda dark but also v funny. “If there’s one good thing about the pandemic—besides getting Chrissy Teigen out of our lives,” he continued, before laughing at the amusement from the audience and added, “I’m relieved.”

Ofc, this slight shade isn’t a huge deal because the whole point of SNL is to make jokes and sometimes that means poking fun at people. It’s worth noting that Chrissy has been rubbing some people the wrong way lately. She’s always had a big virtual presence and is known for being outspoken on Twitter, which sometimes creates drama.

Earlier this month, Courtney Stodden alleged in a Daily Beast interview that Chrissy used to bully them on social media. “She wouldn’t just publicly tweet about wanting me to take ‘a dirt nap’ but would privately DM me and tell me to kill myself,” Courtney said. “Things like, ‘I can’t wait for you to die.'”

That is so disappointing to hear and it’s honestly shameful. Chrissy responded to the accusations by tweeting a public apology:

“Not a lot of people are lucky enough to be held accountable for all their past bullsh*t in front of the entire world. I’m mortified and sad at who I used to be. I was an insecure, attention seeking troll,” she said before adding that she reached out to Courtney privately. “I am ashamed and completely embarrassed at my behavior but that I have tried to connect with Courtney privately but since I publicly fueled all this, I want to also publicly apologize. I’m so sorry, Courtney. I hope you can heal now knowing how deeply sorry I am. And I am so sorry I let you guys down. I will forever work on being better than I was 10 years ago, 1 year ago, 6 months ago.”

Courtney responded with an Instagram post, showing that Chrissy blocked them on Twitter and claimed that she never apologized to them privately. “I accept her apology and forgive her,” they wrote. “But the truth remains the same, I have never heard from her or her camp in private. In fact, she blocked me on Twitter.”

Courtney continued, “All of me wants to believe this is a sincere apology, but it feels like a public attempt to save her partnerships with Target and other brands who are realizing her ‘wokeness’ is a broken record.”
