Josh Frydenberg reveals why he couldn’t open water bottle in viral video


Josh Frydenberg has revealed why he struggled to open a water bottle in a cringe-worthy video that has seen him mocked online.

The Treasurer was caught on camera attempting to prise open a plastic bottle during Parliament question time on Wednesday.

The 50-year-old eventually had to admit defeat and hand it over to Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce, who was able to successfully loosen the cap.

The clip, which was shared on social media, saw Frydenberg made fun by many, including Labor Shadow Treasurer Jim Chalmers who labelled his Liberal counterpart a “butterfingers.”

Speaking to Sunrise, the Treasurer revealed that he had injured his finger and was sporting a splint which hindered his attempt to remove the cap.

“No excuses, but I have got a splint on my finger, so I was struggling there.”

“But there are no excuses, a treasurer should be able to open a bottle of water easier than that,” he joked.
